A crown is a custom-made covering that fits over an original tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. Crowns are made of a variety of different materials, including porcelain, gold, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials.
At Adair Family Dentistry, we have an in-house CEREC machine, so we can offer state-of-the-art CEREC crowns and restorations in just one visit. This new technology greatly reduces the time needed to make strong, natural-looking crowns.
Our in-house, advanced CEREC machine makes permanent crowns in a single visit. For our patients, this means:
The CEREC machine scans the tooth and creates a 3D digital image. Dr. Adair then creates a custom crown on the screen, and the machine mills the crown out of porcelain. Finally, we paint and coat the tooth to perfectly match your real teeth. This process can be used for full or partial crowns (known as onlays).
Custom crowns can also be designed on the CEREC machine to fit over implants.
With proper dental care, your crown can last a lifetime!
