When Should My Child Start Going to the Dentist?

Your child's first dental visit should be scheduled around their first birthday. The most important part of the visit is getting to know and becoming comfortable with the dental team. Our team will work hard to ensure your child has a pleasant, comfortable first dentist experience. We’ll offer kid-friendly instructions on good dental care, laying the groundwork for healthy, happy mouths.

Dental Care for Children

Children should visit the dentist every six months. During these check-ups, our friendly dental hygienists will gently but thoroughly clean the child’s teeth and gums. We’ll talk to your children about the importance of good dental care and the steps they can take to brush well and keep their mouths clean and healthy.

Dr. Adair will then check your child for emerging cavities or tooth decay, and make any recommendations about fluoride treatments, fillings or other care needed to keep baby teeth and new adult teeth healthy. Dr. Adair will also watch the progression of baby teeth and adult teeth as they come in. We will take x-rays to ensure teeth are growing as they should.
